David Horton

David Horton has extensive work experience in the technology and media industry. David is currently working as an Embedded Developer at CyberHive since February 2022. Prior to this, they were a Solutions Architect at Vislink Technologies from May 2021 to July 2021.

David's longest tenure was at MediaKind, where they worked as a Senior Technology Architect from February 2018 to May 2021. In this role, they provided technical leadership and expertise in areas such as MPEG, video compression, broadcast technology, conditional access, and network technology. David also participated in standardization activities and conferences.

Before joining MediaKind, David worked at Ericsson Television for over two decades, holding the positions of Senior Technology Architect from September 2010 to February 2018 and Principal Software Engineer from September 1997 to September 2010. During their time at Ericsson Television, they had responsibilities in architectural design, thought leadership, and guidance in the areas of encoding, stream processing platforms, and media processing architecture. David gained expertise in areas such as MPEG, video compression, broadcast technology, conditional access, and network technology.

David started their career as a Software Engineer at Eurotherm Controls Ltd in September 1992, where they worked on developing industrial controllers using C programming on Hitachi H8/300 microcontroller. David then worked as a Software Engineer at Telsis from February 1996 to August 1997, where they gained experience in assembly and C programming on Motorola 68000 and 68040 processors, focusing on the Hi-Call interactive voice response system.

David Horton attended the University of Bath from 1988 to 1992, where they pursued a degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Upon completion of their studies, they obtained an MEng degree from the university.
