James Asker

James Asker has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. James started their career in 2004 as a Systems Manager and IS Engineer at Micron Europe, where they played a crucial role in systems development and engineering. In 2010, they joined BBC Switch as a Post Production Assistant, responsible for managing the AV workflow and delivery system in a live broadcast environment.

From 2011 to 2014, they worked at Hogarth Worldwide as a Senior Systems Administrator and later as a Production Systems Administrator. In this role, they provided systems planning and engineering for multiple worldwide sites, supporting video, audio, and web production systems.

In 2014, James joined streetlife.com as a DevOps Engineer before moving to NMR Consultancy the same year. At NMR Consultancy, they served as a Senior Engineer and Team Lead, specializing in Python development with Django and Flask. James also gained expertise in deployment and configuration using various tools such as Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, and Saltstack. Additionally, they gained experience in container workflows with Docker, ECS, and EKS, as well as CI/CD on CircleCI. James'srole also involved pre-sales and client-facing support, R&D for AWS-based solutions, performance tuning, and advising on storage, networking, and virtualization considerations.

Currently, James works at CyberHive as a Developer and Development Supervisor, starting in 2020.

James Asker holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Cybernetics from the University of Reading, which they obtained from 1998 to 2001. James later pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Science Media Production at Imperial College London, completing it from 2008 to 2009. In addition to their academic qualifications, James has obtained several certifications, including "Rust Essential Training" from LinkedIn in January 2022 and "AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate" from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in both May 2021 and May 2018.
