Ian van Niekerk has a diverse work experience in the field of data engineering and architecture. Ian is currently employed as the Head Data Architect at Cyberlogic since January 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Data Engineer at Old Mutual Limited from July 2022 to January 2023. Ian also held multiple roles at FNB South Africa, including Senior Data Architect, Data Architect, and Senior Data Engineer, from January 2019 to June 2022. Ian has also worked as a Lead Business Consultant at BSG from January 2018 to December 2018. Before that, they were a Principal Consultant at Expeditus (Pty) Ltd, where they were responsible for delivering various data-related initiatives and managing client accounts. Ian also worked as a Technical Analyst at Andile Solutions and as a Senior Associate Consultant at MicroStrategy. Ian started their career as a Business Analyst at Standard Bank South Africa and later worked as a System Analyst at Blue Label Telecoms.
Ian van Niekerk has a Master's degree in Information Technology with a specialization in Big Data Science from the University of Pretoria, which they obtained from 2017 to 2021. Ian also has a Bachelor's degree in Commerce with a focus on Informatics (Hons) from the same university, which they completed in 2010. Prior to that, they earned their Bachelor's degree in Commerce with a specialization in Informatics from the University of Pretoria, where they studied from 2007 to 2009. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained various certifications including MicroStrategy Certified Engineer and MicroStrategy Certified Developer from MicroStrategy University, a Diploma in Business Analysis from Faculty Training Institute, and PRINCE 2 Foundation from AMPG International.
