VP of Energy Efficiency at the Cybersecurity Manufacturing Innovation Institute at CyManII | Cybersecurity Manufacturing Innovation Institute

Krystel Castillo has a diverse work experience in the field of energy efficiency and engineering. From September 2020 to the present, they have held the position of VP of Energy Efficiency at the Cybersecurity Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CyManII). Prior to this, from September 2020 to April 2022, they served as the Vice President for Energy Efficiency at the same institute.

Krystel Castillo also worked at The University of Texas at San Antonio, where they held multiple roles. Krystel was an Associate Professor and the Director of the Texas Sustainable Energy Research Institute from September 2017 onwards. From September 2021 to April 2022, they were the VP of Energy at CyManII, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and the Director of TSERI. Additionally, they served as an Assistant Professor at the university from August 2012 to September 2017, where they were a core faculty member of the Center of Advanced Manufacturing and Lean Systems (CAMLS) and co-directed the Manufacturing Systems and Automation Laboratory.

Before their time at The University of Texas at San Antonio, Krystel Castillo worked at Tecnologico de Monterrey, Campus Monterrey. From January 2009 to August 2012, they were a PhD student and Research Assistant, conducting research on supply chain network design modeling with quality considerations. Krystel also advised undergraduate students as part of the Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program during the summers of 2010 and 2011. Earlier, from January 2007 to December 2008, they were a Master's student and Research Assistant, working on a performance improvement project in a glass melting process through statistical analysis.

Krystel Castillo began their academic journey at Texas Tech University in January 2009, where they worked as a PhD student and Research Assistant in Systems and Engineering Management. During their time there, they focused on developing a strategic model for supply chain network design that incorporated quality considerations. Krystel completed their PhD with a perfect GPA and received recognition as a member of the Alpha Pi Miu honor society.

Krystel Castillo completed their education in the field of Engineering. Krystel attended Texas Tech University from 2009 to 2011, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering. Following this, from 2009 to 2012, they pursued further studies at Tecnológico de Monterrey, earning an ScD in Engineering Sciences.
