Ewan Aitken's work experience includes being the Chief Executive Officer for Cyrenians since 2014. Ewan is currently a Board Member for the Scottish Government's National Strategy for Economic Transition Delivery Board since 2022. Ewan is also a Member of The Promise Scotland Oversight Board since 2021. Ewan Aitken has served as a Council Member and later as the Chairperson for Inspiring Communities Network at Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce from 2015 to 2021. Ewan founded and directed the Ripple Project since 1996. Ewan is an Advisory Board Member for Edinburgh University Centre for Homelessness and Inclusive Health since 2017. Ewan Aitken has been a Member of the Scottish Government Rapid ReHousing Transition Plan Delivery Group since 2018. Ewan was a Member of the Advisory Board for Young Persons Guarantee from 2020 to 2022. Ewan was also a Member of the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Deal Regional Enterprise Council from 2018 to 2022. Lastly, they served as the Voluntary Sector Representative for the Midlothian Integration Joint Board from 2017 to 2020.

Ewan Aitken completed their BA (Hons) degree in Social Anthropology at the University of Sussex from 1981 to 1985. Ewan further pursued their education at The University of Edinburgh, where they obtained a BD (Hons) degree in Old Testament and Systematic Theology from 1987 to 1990.
