Kathryn Brown has a diverse work experience in communications and marketing. Kathryn is currently the Chief Communications & Marketing Officer (CCMO) at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation since 2023. Prior to this, they held various roles at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute from 2013 to 2023, including Chief of Communications and Head of Communications. In these positions, they led the strategic evolution of the communications function and played a key role in advancing business goals and engaging with various stakeholders. From 2007 to 2013, Kathryn worked as the Vice President of Marketing & Communications at The Conservation Fund, where they developed a strong organizational brand and implemented effective marketing strategies. Before that, they founded and served as the principal of EndPoint Creative, LLC, a communications consulting business, where they worked with prominent organizations and managed a team of freelance writers and editors.
Kathryn Brown holds a Bachelor of Journalism (BJ) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained the Prosci® Taking Charge of Change certification from Prosci in November 2022. Kathryn also holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University, acquired in June 2022. In April 2021, Kathryn completed the Foundations in Design Thinking course at IDEO U. Additionally, they obtained certifications in Change Management Foundations and Communicating in Times of Change from LinkedIn in November 2020. Finally, Kathryn acquired an Executive Certificate in Systems Thinking from Cornell University in July 2019.
