Dean Shults

Dean Shults has extensive work experience in the field of statistical programming and biostatistics. Dean is currently employed as the Associate Director of Statistical Programming at Cytel since March 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Cytel as a Principal Statistical Programmer from December 2012 to March 2021.

Before joining Cytel, Dean worked at Merck Serono as a Principal Statistical Programmer from December 2007 to November 2012. In this role, they were responsible for programming responses to health authorities requests, requests from clinicians, and producing tables, figures, and listings for final reports. Dean also wrote code for primary outputs and validated outputs.

Dean's previous experience includes working at Novartis as a Senior Statistical Programmer from November 2006 to June 2007. Dean assisted in the programming efforts for a major submission to the Japanese Health Authorities, producing tables, figures, and listings for seven different studies.

Dean also worked at INC Research as a Senior Statistician on a short-term contract from June 2005 to October 2005. Dean'sresponsibilities included producing tables, figures, and listings for a study, coordinating the timely validation of outputs, and reviewing statistical analysis plans.

Dean's earlier roles include working as a Biostatistician at Serono International SA from July 2001 to July 2004 and at Quintiles from October 1998 to June 2001. At Quintiles, they were promoted to Biostatistician III in 1999 and received two 'Instant Awards' for their work. Dean also had two 'customer managed' positions during their time at Quintiles.

Dean Shults has a Master of Science (MSc) in Medical Statistics from the University of Leicester, which they obtained from 1997 to 1998. Before that, from 1994 to 1997, they attended the University of Central Lancashire, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mathematical Sciences.
