Christian Hoppmann

Christian Hoppmann has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. Christian started their career as a Student at Technische Universität Berlin from 1999 to 2005. Afterwards, they worked as a Research Associate at Leibniz Institut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) from 2005 to 2012, where they focused on synthesis and design of photo-switchable peptides and conformational studies. Christian then became a Postdoctoral Researcher at The Salk Institute for Biological Studies from 2012 to 2014, where they genetically encoded photoswitchable click amino acids into proteins and expressed them in both E. coli and mammalian cells.

From 2014 to 2017, Christian worked as a Postdoc / Associate Specialist at UCSF, where they genetically encoded phosphotyrosine into proteins and conducted protein engineering projects. Following that, they joined Takara Bio USA, Inc. as a Scientist I from 2017 to 2019 and then as a Scientist II from 2019 to 2019, responsible for the development and launch of various Capturem products for protein purification and enrichment.

In 2019, Christian switched to Nektar Therapeutics, where they held multiple roles. Christian started as a Scientist and later became a Scientist II, focusing on the characterization of PEGylated proteins and leading a chromatography subgroup. Their responsibilities included analyzing proteins using various methods, such as RP-HPLC, SE-HPLC, and IE-HPLC. Christian also authored sections in BLA and provided data interpretation for techniques like MALDI-MS and LC/MS.

Christian's most recent position is Senior Scientist II at CytomX Therapeutics since 2022.
