Alex Ball has had a varied and extensive work experience. In 2012, they were a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow at the California Institute of Technology, where they developed Bayesian networks for classification of astronomical objects. In 2013 and 2014, they were a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow at the same institution, where they simulated novel planar lenses for use in coupling to optical fibers and built an experimental apparatus to measure optically detected magnetic resonance in diamond. In 2015, they were a Software Engineer at HST Solar, where they were responsible for modeling of utility-scale solar power plants. From 2016 to 2018, they were a Software Engineer at Google, where they improved stability of streaming voice searches, performed initial voice integration between Wear and Assistant, and incorporated Assistant functionality into the latest Wear system UI update. From 2020 to 2022, they were a Senior Engineer at Cantina, and is currently a Full Stack Engineer at Cyvl.ai.
Alex Ball attended Caltech from 2011 to 2015 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physics, with a minor in Computer Science.
