Kate Holt is an experienced director and photojournalist with a diverse background in communications and journalism. Since January 2013, Kate has directed Arete, a communications agency focused on impactful storytelling for ethical initiatives. Kate has contributed as a writer to The Guardian since February 2012 and regularly works as a photographer for The Guardian and Observer, as well as The Mail on Sunday. With over 15 years of freelance photojournalism experience across Africa, the Middle East, and Afghanistan, Kate has covered significant events and themes, including UK military efforts and global crises. Additional experience includes training roles and previous positions at The Independent and BBC News, complemented by postgraduate studies in Photojournalism at the University of the Arts London and a Master’s degree in History from the University of St Andrews.
