Dianna Smoot has a diverse work experience in various roles related to education, training, and child advocacy. Dianna started their career as a Training Specialist at a private company, where they focused on providing resources and assistance to professionals combating crimes against women and children. Dianna then joined the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center as the Director of Community Education, where they expanded training offerings and coordinated efforts to increase child abuse awareness. Smoot later joined the Garland ISD, where they held multiple positions of increasing responsibility, including BE/ESL Instructional Support Lead and Manager. During this time, they provided instructional support, compliance monitoring, and leadership to better serve students and families. Dianna then moved on to the Dallas Independent School District, serving as the Director of Youth and Family Centers before becoming the Executive Director of Mental Health Services. In these roles, they oversaw programs supporting the well-being of students and families and implemented strategic planning for growth and increased accessibility. Most recently, Smoot returned to the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center as the Chief Program and Training Officer, where they supervise and leads programs that improve the lives of abused children and provides national leadership in the child abuse field.

Dianna Smoot has a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, which they obtained from The University of Texas at Arlington from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History/Spanish from Texas A&M University, where they studied between 1997 and 2001. Before entering university, Dianna attended Lutheran High School of Dallas from 1996 to 1997. Dianna completed their high school education at Ursuline Academy, where they studied from 1993 to 1996. Though they attended these schools, it is unclear if they obtained any specific degrees or pursued any particular fields of study during their time at Lutheran High School of Dallas and Ursuline Academy.
