Jay Triano

Jay Triano is a seasoned basketball coach currently serving as an Assistant Coach for the Dallas Mavericks since July 2025. Prior to this role, Triano held positions as an Assistant Basketball Coach with the Sacramento Kings from July 2022 to July 2025 and with the Charlotte Hornets from June 2018 to August 2022. Notably, Triano acted as the Interim Head Coach for the Phoenix Suns in late 2017 and served as an Assistant Coach for the Portland Trail Blazers from September 2012 to May 2016. Additionally, Triano was the Vice President of Pro Scouting and Head Coach for the Toronto Raptors from November 2008 to August 2012. Triano's academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management from Simon Fraser University, along with an Honourary Doctor of Laws from the University of Calgary awarded in June 2016.
