Terry Sullivan is the Maverick's Director of Internal Analytics. His analysis includes thorough review of games, practices and developmental sessions, as well as monitoring trends in the players’ cognitive training off the court. He participates in the Mavericks’ draft preparation and free agency efforts through live scouting, film review and analysis of both advanced statistics and the salary cap. He develops and administers a basketball comprehension exam used to evaluate the intellectual capacity of draft prospects. Sullivan also hires and oversees the team’s player development interns, most of whom are former college players who play a vital role in practices and game preparation. The program has become one of the premier basketball internships in the league, producing several current employees for the Mavericks and around the NBA.
Sullivan joined the Mavericks as a video scout for the 2010-11 championship campaign and served in that role until his promotion to the front office in 2015, where he spent four years as director of internal analytics. Previously, he was a video coordinator intern with the L.A. Clippers during the 2009-10 season. Prior to his stint in Los Angeles, Sullivan helped the Catholic University Cardinals reach the postseason as an assistant coach in 2008-09.
Sullivan’s NBA journey began in the summer of 2006, when he worked as an athletic training intern for the Washington Wizards. The Dallas native attended high school in New Rochelle, N.Y. and graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Providence College in 2008, where he served as a video assistant for the Friars men’s basketball team. Sullivan resides in Dallas with his wife, Macy, and their daughter, Eleanor.
