Director Community Development at Dallas Symphony Chorus

Scott Walzel has a diverse work experience in the music industry. Scott began their career in 1988 as the Assistant Principal and 2nd Bassoon at the San Antonio Symphony. In 1992, they joined the Dallas Symphony Orchestra as an Associate Principal Bassoon and has remained with them ever since. Throughout their time at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, they have taken on multiple roles including Director of Orchestra Personnel and Engagement, Director of Community Development, and Contractor of Musicians. Their tenure at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra includes significant contributions to the organization's community development and personnel management.

Scott Walzel attended Brazoswood High School from 1977 to 1981. Following high school, they pursued a Bachelor of Music Education at the University of Houston, graduating in 1985. Later, in 1986 and 1987, they furthered their education at the University of Southern California, where they obtained a Master of Music degree with a specialization in Music Performance, General.

Dallas Symphony Chorus

The Dallas Symphony Chorus is the official vocal ensemble of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. This all-volunteer organization consists of members who devote their time, effort and considerable talent to regularly scheduled rehearsals and performances with the Dallas Symphony, as well as appearances in the greater Dallas metroplex, across the United States and with orchestras in venues around the world.
