Craig de Laine has an extensive work history in various roles within the energy sector. Craig is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG), a position they started in November 2021. Prior to this, they held the role of Executive General Manager for Customer and Strategy at AGIG from April to October 2021. From January 2018 to April 2021, Craig was the General Manager of People and Strategy at AGIG. Before joining AGIG, they held the position of General Manager for Strategy and Regulation at AGIG from January 2017 to January 2018.

Prior to their time at AGIG, Craig was the General Manager of Regulation at Australian Gas Networks (AGN) from August 2014 to December 2016. Craig also gained experience at Envestra, where they held various roles including Group Manager of Regulation from July 2013 to July 2014, Manager of Network Regulation from July 2010 to June 2013, and Manager of Regulatory Strategy from October 2005 to June 2010.

Craig's earlier work experience includes serving as the Principal Regulatory Officer for Energy Pricing at ESCOSA from July 2000 to September 2005. Before that, they worked as a Senior Research Economist at the Productivity Commission from October 1998 to June 2000 and as a Research Economist at the Industry Commission from January 1996 to September 1998.

Craig de Laine holds a Masters degree in Economic Regulation from The Australian National University, which they completed from 2002 to 2006. Prior to that, they obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics from Monash University in 1998 and 1999. Craig also holds a Bachelor of Economics from Flinders University, which they completed from 1993 to 1995.
