Kathy Hannun

President & Co-Founder at Dandelion Energy

Kathy Hannun is the President and Co-Founder of Dandelion Energy, a home geothermal company that spun out of Alphabet's X in 2017. Kathy has been in the energy industry for over 10 years, starting their career as a product manager at Google[x] where they led technological due diligence and product development for early stage projects. In their role at Google[x], Kathy was responsible for coming up with the next "Moonshots" for X; they identified compelling opportunities and then de-risked the technology and the business plan. If an idea looked promising enough at the end of this due diligence period, X would spin up a team to bring the idea to market.

In 2015, Kathy left Google[x] to start Dandelion Energy with the mission of making home geothermal systems more affordable, convenient and energy efficient than anything else out there. Dandelion Energy has been covered in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, CNN, FastCompany, Engadget, TechCrunch, Greentech Media, and more.

In addition to their work at Dandelion Energy, Kathy is also the Chair of the Investor Subcommittee for the California Sustainable Energy Entrepreneur Development Initiative (CalSEED). CalSEED is an early stage grant funding and professional development program for innovators working to bring clean energy concepts to market.

Kathy Hannun attended Stanford University for both their undergraduate and graduate studies. Kathy received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2009 and a Master of Science in Computer Science in 2015. While an undergraduate, they were a member of Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honor society.

Kathy Hannun has a great team of colleagues that help their with the day-to-day operations of the company. They include Forrest Baringer-Jones, Douglas De Angelo, Shannon Smith, and Kathy Hannun.
