Luca Piani

Deputy Project Director - Project Enginering Manager at Danieli Group

Luca Piani has extensive work experience in project engineering and management roles. Luca started their career in 1989 as a Designer at Danieli, where they developed detail drawings and P&ID's for industrial plants in the steel industry. Luca then worked at Gruppo Pittini as a Development & Resources Engineer, responsible for developing new products for wire and mesh production. After that, they joined Mangiarotti SpA, working as an Engineer in the manufacturing department and later as a Technical job coordinator for equipment in the petrochemical industry. In 2007, they moved to GE Oil & Gas, where they served as a Lead Engineer/Technologist in the IPL Department, specializing in piping stress analysis and other activities in civil and structural design. Luca continued their career at GE, where they worked as a Lead Customer Project Engineer in the Upgrade Engineering division for Turbomachinery & Process Solutions. Finally, they joined Baker Hughes, a GE company, in the same role, responsible for managing project engineering teams and ensuring project completion on schedule, within budget, and according to specifications. Currently, Luca Piani is working at Gruppo Danieli as the Deputy Project Director and Project Engineering Manager, overseeing multi-business unit projects.

Luca Piani earned a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Università degli Studi di Udine, completing the program from 1993 to 2003. Luca also received a High School degree (Diploma di Perito Capotecnico) with a specialization in Mechanics from Istituto Tecnico Industriale Arturo Malignani - Udine from 1985 to 1987. Additionally, they obtained a Professional Diploma in Meccanica from C.F.P. CNOS-FAP Bearzi from 1982 to 1985. In terms of certifications, Luca Piani is a member of "Ordine degli Ingegneri della Provincia di Udine" Albo A since 2005, and they also hold a certification as a Certified Project Manager - Level C from the IPMA: International Project Management Association, obtained in November 2018.
