GNC Engineer - Guidance & Control at Dark

Kieran Downie has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering. Kieran is currently employed at Dark as the Lead GNC Engineer, where they are responsible for guidance, navigation, and control. Prior to this, they worked at Sting Industries as the Lead Flight Performance Engineer, specializing in dynamics and control. Before that, they were a Software Engineer at Wecorp Industries, focusing on simulation for AI planning and control. Kieran also worked at Williams Racing, where they contributed to a research project on vehicle dynamics and driver-in-loop simulation. Additionally, they held the role of Vehicle Dynamics and Simulation Engineer at the same company.

Kieran Downie completed their high school education at Inverurie Academy from 2008 to 2014, focusing on mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Kieran then pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering at Imperial College London from 2014 to 2019. In addition to their formal education, Kieran obtained several certifications in various fields. These include Machine Learning from Stanford University in March 2021, a specialization in Spacecraft Dynamics & Control from the University of Colorado Boulder in January 2021, and Test-Driven Development in C++, C++ Design Patterns, Parallel and Concurrent Programming with C++ Part 1, Programming Foundations: Design Patterns, and C++: Advanced Topics from LinkedIn in 2020. Moreover, they also completed the Flying Car & Autonomous Flight Engineer Nanodegree program offered by Udacity in September 2020.
