CEO and Senior Director of Curriculum at Darkness to Light

Rhonda Newton serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Darkness to Light since September 2020, overseeing financial management and restructuring efforts following significant staff reductions. Prior roles include Senior Director of Curriculum Design and Research, where advancements were made in adult training curriculum through various educational formats. Newton has contributed to Texas A&M University System as an Instructional Designer III, developing eLearning courses, and previously held multiple instructional design roles at Texas A&M University. With a robust teaching background, including experience in Spanish language instruction and curriculum design, Newton also held translation roles and provided language classes for corporate clients. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University and a Master’s degree in Learning and Technology from Western Governors University.

Our mission is, quite simply, to end child sexual abuse. With affiliates in all 50 U.S. states and 16 additional countries, we provide training and resources that empower communities to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Our flagship training, Stewards of Children®, is the only nationally available program scientifically proven to increase knowledge, improve attitudes, and change child-protective behaviors. This program combines child sexual abuse facts and prevention information with personal commentary from survivors, experts, and concerned adults to create a comprehensive, positive approach to prevention training.
