Chris Kent currently serves as a Program Manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) since December 2022, and has been an Associate Editor for the Journal of Ship Research since August 2018. Previously, Chris held various significant roles including the DASN(RDT&E) DoN Deputy Chief Systems Engineer for Systems Engineering and Technical Authority at the US Navy from January 2022 to December 2022 and a Staff Specialist in Weapons and Platforms Technologies at OUSD(R&E) from August 2020 to February 2022. Chris also served as the Chief Engineer and Director of S&T at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division from January 2018 to August 2020. Earlier in the career, Chris was a Research Scientist in the US Navy from December 2012 to January 2018 and managed the Dynamics and Controls Group at Computer Sciences Corporation from May 2007 to December 2012. Academic contributions include a position as Assistant Professor at the Florida Institute of Technology from July 2005 to April 2007. Chris earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan between 2001 and 2005.
