Raymond Bemish

Program Manager

Raymond Bemish is an experienced Program Manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) since September 2018, having previously held roles at the Air Force Research Labs from August 2009 to July 2021 as Principal Research Chemist and Deputy Program Manager. Bemish's work includes significant contributions to the Hypersonic Plasma Reentry Effects Program and the Plasma Chemistry Lab, focusing on ion-molecule reactions and plasma modeling for hypersonic atmospheric conditions. Prior to his government roles, Bemish served as a Senior Principal Scientist at Pfizer from April 1997 to August 2009, where Raymond led analytical nanotechnology projects and developed computational methods for HPLC retention time prediction. Additional experience includes a postdoctoral position at the University of Basel, graduate research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a brief tenure as a lab technician at Miles Laboratories. Bemish holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BS in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Purdue University.
