Plains State Coordinator, Direct Action & Research Training (DART) Center

Ben MacConnell possesses extensive experience in community organizing and advocacy. Beginning as a Brethren Volunteer Service Member at the Church of the Brethren Volunteer Service, MacConnell coordinated international support to mitigate the expansion of unsafe nuclear power plants in Eastern Europe, securing over $65,000 in grant funding for related energy conservation projects. As Recruitment Director and Plains State Coordinator at the DART Center, MacConnell established community organizing groups throughout Kansas and Nebraska. A Lead Organizer at Justice Matters, MacConnell contributed to significant local initiatives, including expanding behavioral health services and affordable housing efforts. Prior community organizing roles included serving CLOUT and Green Corps, where MacConnell led various environmental campaigns and grassroots funding initiatives. Ben MacConnell earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Indiana University Northwest.
