Giana-Jochael Amissah is a Lead Undergraduate Researcher at Dartmouth College, specializing in human-centered design, computer science, and engineering under the guidance of Professor Elizabeth Murnane and graduate student Shirin Amouei. Current research focuses on using Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning to differentiate between testimonies of pain patients. Previously, Giana-Jochael served as a Teaching Assistant at Dartmouth, Columbia University, and performed a research internship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, concentrating on inflammatory bowel disease. Giana-Jochael has demonstrated a commitment to STEM education through mentoring middle-schoolers at NYC FIRST and has participated in impactful engineering projects, including the development of a device to reduce surgical smoke contamination. Giana-Jochael is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at Dartmouth College.
