John Hamer

John Hamer is the Managing Partner of DCVC Bio at DCVC. John has also served on the Board of Trustees for the International Center for Tropical Agriculture in Cali, Colombia from September 2012 to December 2018. Prior to that, they were with Monsanto Growth Ventures from September 2012 to April 2018, where they led the company's corporate venture capital group to invest in technology impacting food, feed, fuel, and farms. Hamer has also held positions at the University of California, Davis Graduate School of Management, Arete Therapeutics (founder/CEO and President), Paradigm Genetics (Icoria) (CSO, CEO, VP Business Development), and Chromatin, Inc. (Chairperson).

John Hamer earned their Ph.D in Microbiology from the University of California, Davis. John also holds a M.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the University of Windsor and a B.Sc. in Biology from the same school.
