Ania Calderon has a long and varied work experience. Ania is currently the Managing Director of the Data & Society Research Institute, a position they have held since 2021. From 2017 to 2021, they were the Executive Director of the Open Data Charter, a movement of governments and organisations committed to achieving a world where government information is used to empower people. In 2019, they were an Assembly Fellowship - Ethics and Governance of AI, 2019 cohort at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. From 2013 to 2017, they were the Directora General de Datos Abiertos at the Presidencia de la República - Mexico. Ania was also a Digital Strategy Consultant for the Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires from 2012 to 2013 and a Features Editor for the Journal of International Affairs from 2012 to 2008. In 2008, they co-founded Pase Usted.
Ania Calderon attended Columbia University from 2011 to 2013, where they earned an MPA in Urban Policy. Prior to that, they attended Universidad Iberoamericana, Ciudad de México from 2004 to 2009, where they earned a Licenciatura in Arquitectura.
