Sanjit Jhala is a highly experienced engineering professional currently serving as a Principal Engineer at Databricks since August 2025. Previously, Sanjit held multiple roles at Google over a career beginning in March 2012, culminating in the position of Director of Engineering focusing on Ranking & Search Quality. Earlier in the career, Sanjit served as Lead Developer at Hypertable Inc., with a focus on creating a high-performance database, and as a HyperTable Developer at Zvents. Sanjit began the career at Yahoo as a Senior Software Engineer, enhancing the relevancy of search engines, before working at NVIDIA as a GPU Architect involved in chip simulation. Additionally, Sanjit gained research experience as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Santa Cruz, developing methods for urban modeling and real-time tracking. Educationally, Sanjit obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and Bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
