Tony Zhang

Software Engineer

Tony Zhang is a PhD candidate at the University of Michigan with a strong background in computer science and distributed systems. At Mysten Labs, Tony worked as a research intern focusing on designing a distributed execution engine for lazy blockchains. Previous experience includes building a high-performance key-value store at VMware and developing a multi-partition protocol for Apache Cassandra during an internship at Apple. Tony has also made significant contributions to academic research, proving the strength of the Paxos protocol and creating a framework to analyze the performance properties of distributed systems. Prior roles include machine learning internships and teaching assistantships at Cornell University, where a Bachelor of Arts was obtained in Computer Science and Mathematics. Currently, Tony serves as a software engineer at Databricks, working on Delta Live Tables.
