Aoife Cahill

Director AI Research at Dataminr

Aoife Cahill has extensive work experience in the field of AI research and NLP. Aoife is currently serving as the Director of AI Research at Dataminr since September 2021. Prior to this, they worked at ETS for 10 years, starting as a Research Scientist and eventually becoming a Senior Research Scientist in NLP. Aoife began their career at the University of Stuttgart, where they worked as a Post-doctoral researcher from October 2006 to July 2011. Aoife also gained experience as a Visiting Researcher at Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) for a period of six months in 2006. Before their research roles, they worked as a Technical Support Engineer at Ireland Online (IOL) from January 1999 to April 2000. Aoife also gained industry experience as a Summer Intern at IBM Stuttgart, Germany in 1998.

Aoife Cahill has a strong educational background in computational linguistics. Aoife earned a Ph.D. in Computational Linguistics from Dublin City University, which they attended from 2001 to 2004. Prior to that, they obtained a BSc in Applied Computational Linguistics from the same university, studying from 1997 to 2001.

During their undergraduate studies, Aoife had the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Stuttgart in 1999-2000 through the Erasmus program, focusing on Computational Linguistics.

In addition to their formal education, Aoife has also pursued various certifications to enhance their skills. Aoife completed several online courses offered by Coursera, including "Machine Learning Modeling Pipelines in Production," "Introduction to Machine Learning in Production," and "Machine Learning Data Lifecycle in Production" in 2021. In 2013, they took a course on "Computing for Data Analysis," and in 2012, they completed a course on "Machine Learning," both from Coursera. Furthermore, they gained expertise in building modern Python applications on AWS through a Coursera course in 2021.
