Shihao Ran

Shihao Ran is an experienced Data Scientist currently employed at Dataminr since June 2020, where progression through the ranks has included roles as Data Scientist I, II, and III. Prior experience includes a Research Assistant position at the University of Houston from August 2015 to June 2020, where Shihao developed a Python library for simulating scattering behaviors and modeled a chemical holographic imaging system. In 2019, a brief internship at Dataminr as a Research Intern in the AI Team involved designing and implementing data visualization strategies. Shihao also served as a Research Assistant at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China from June 2013 to June 2015, focusing on image processing, face recognition, and solar power system implementation. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Houston and a BS in Electronic Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.
