Sam Debruyn

Sam Debruyn has gained extensive work experience in various roles within the field of data engineering and software development.

Starting in 2014, Sam worked as a .NET developer at Umbrace for almost two years. In 2016, Sam joined Realdolmen as a Xamarin developer and later moved to Mediahuis nv in the same role. In 2018, Sam took on the role of Technical Lead/Xamarin developer at Ypto, where they stayed until the end of 2019.

In 2016, Sam also began working at De Cronos Groep, starting as a Xamarin Developer and later taking on roles as a Technical Lead and Coordinator for different projects. This work continued until 2020.

Starting in 2020, Sam worked as a Data Engineer at Puratos before moving on to LynxCare in the same role. In 2022, Sam joined dbt Labs to work on the MS SQL / Azure Synapse adapter. They also had a role as a Data Engineer at Delen Private Bank, which started in 2021 and is expected to end in 2023.

Currently, Sam is working as a Technical Lead for Data & Cloud at dataroots.

Sam Debruyn completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Computer Science from Odisee, studying from 2013 to 2016. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including the Prefect Associate Certification from Prefect in April 2023, the Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals, and Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals from Microsoft in July 2022, the Astronomer Certification for Apache Airflow Fundamentals from Astronomer in June 2022, the Liquibase Luminary 2022 and Liquibase Luminary 2021 from Liquibase in February 2022 and April 2021 respectively, the dbt Learn, Group Training from dbt Labs in April 2021, the Liquibase and the CI/CD Process in March 2021, the Liquibase Commands for Troubleshooting and Liquibase Fundamentals Certification in January 2021, the Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark 3.0 from Databricks in August 2020, the Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals from Microsoft in January 2020, the Exam 483: Programming in C# from Microsoft in April 2019, the Certified Mobile Developer from Xamarin in July 2016, the MTA: Database Fundamentals and MTA: Software Development Fundamentals from Microsoft in March 2015, and the SAS Certified Base Programmer for SAS 9 from SAS in March 2015. Additionally, they have obtained the dbt Developer certification from dbt Labs in October 2022 and the Databricks Lakehouse Fundamentals certification from Databricks in May 2023.
