Wim Van Leuven has a diverse work experience in the field of big data and analytics. Wim started their career in 2009 as a Data Ronin at highestpoint. In 2011, they became a Community Organizer and Data Changemaker at BigData.be, where they played a key role in promoting and discussing big data technologies in Belgium. In 2013, Wim co-founded and served as the CEO of BigBoards, a modular hardware platform for big data solutions.
Throughout their career, Wim has held various roles in different companies. Wim worked as a Big Data architect at Voxbone in 2017 and as a Full Stack Engineer at NowYu, where they developed consumer interaction solutions. In 2015, Wim served as a Big Data consultant at NGDATA and as a Big Data engineer at BLONDE N.V.
In recent years, Wim has held roles in major organizations. Wim worked as a Big Data Specialist at KBC Bank & Verzekering from 2018 to 2020. Additionally, they served as a Tech Lead for advanced analytics at UCB from 2020 to 2021, where they were responsible for designing and implementing advanced analytics platforms.
Currently, Wim is working as a Big Data Solutions Architect at dataroots, a position they started in 2020. Overall, Wim's work experience showcases their expertise in big data technologies and their contributions to the field.
Wim Van Leuven began their education in 1984 at Sint-Albertus College in Haasrode, where they pursued a VSO degree. During their time at Sint-Albertus College, they focused on Latin and Mathematics studies. In 1990, Wim Van Leuven enrolled at KU Leuven, where they earned their Master's degree in Computer Sciences with a specialization in theoretical computer science. Wim studied at KU Leuven for four years, completing their education in 1994. In 2004, they attended Ghent University for a post-academic program in Enterprise Application Integration and Software Re-engineering. Additionally, in July 2015, Wim Van Leuven obtained a certification in Introduction to Big Data with Apache Spark from edX Berkeley.
