Dr. Matina Thomaidou

Dr. Matina Thomaidou is an experienced professional in the data science and analytics field. Dr. Matina is currently the VP, Head of Data Science at Dataseat (Now part of Verve Group), a position they have held since 2023. Prior to this, they were the Senior Director, Head of Customer Success and Director, Head of Customer Success at wappier from 2021. From 2018 to 2021, they were the Lead Data Scientist - Ad Auction, Marketing Science, Gaming at Facebook, where they were responsible for building and scaling ad auction insights and recommendations to clients globally. From 2015 to 2018, they were the Data Science Leader for Europe - Data Science and Optimization Global Team - Digital Sales at IBM, where they led a project to build and deploy a recommendation engine for sales plays, products, and whitespace prospects. Dr. Matina was also the Senior Data Scientist - Data Science and Optimization Global Team - Digital Sales at IBM from 2015 to 2018, where they developed and deployed an evidence-based capability for assessing seller skills. From 2014 to 2015, they were the Analytics & Data Management Senior Analyst at Accenture, where they deployed solutions to optimize digital strategies across 16 countries. From 2011 to 2014, they were a PhD Researcher - Machine Learning for Online Advertising at the Athens University of Economics and Business, where they also worked as an External Reviewer and Teaching Assistant & Technical Supervisor. Dr. Matina also held a Program Manager Intern position at Microsoft in 2014 and a Researcher & Software Engineer position at Laboratoire d'Informatique de l'École Polytechnique (LIX) from 2012 to 2014.

Dr. Matina Thomaidou earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Machine Learning for Online Advertising from Athens University of Economics and Business in 2014. Dr. Matina earned their Master's Degree in Information Systems from the same institution in 2011. Dr. Matina earned their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Ethnikon kai Kapodistriakon Panepistimion Athinon in 2009. Dr. Thomaidou has also obtained four additional certifications, including Decision-Making Strategies from Lynda.com in 2018, Agile Product Owner Role and Solving Common Project Problems from Lynda.com in 2016, and Big Data Spark Foundations from IBM in 2016.
