Daughters of the American Revolution
Elizabeth Werner has extensive experience in both library management and education. Currently serving as Treasurer for the Berkeley Plantation Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century since May 2020, Elizabeth has also held the position of Past Regent for the Clearwater Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution since April 2004. Elizabeth's previous role as Library Director at Clearwater Christian College from January 1975 to September 2013 included creating policies, preparing for regional accreditation, and automating library operations. Prior library experience includes working as a Library Assistant at the University of Maryland College Park and as an Instructor of Spanish at Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College, and a Teaching Associate at Indiana University Bloomington. Elizabeth holds an M.L.S. in Library and Information Science from the University of Maryland, a Master of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature from Indiana University Bloomington, and a B.A. in Spanish from Mills College.

With more than 120 years of tradition, over 930,000 members admitted since its founding, a vast array of service work, a historic National Headquarters building with extraordinary collections, and countless activities taking place locally, nationally and globally, there is much to learn about the Daughters of the American Revolution. The organization was founded in 1890 with the simple mission of promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism. These timeless, overarching principles keep the DAR strong and vitally relevant in this ever-changing world. This nonprofit, nonpolitical volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and securing America's future through better education consists of over 185,000 members in 3,000 chapters across the world. These vibrant, active women are the heart of the organization. The grassroots work of DAR volunteers promotes the organization's objectives of historic preservation, education and patriotism.
