Zhaoya Lu

Zhaoya Lu is a data science professional with extensive experience in leading diverse teams to tackle complex business and technical challenges. Currently serving as Director of Data Science at Dave since April 2022, Zhaoya oversees multiple squads focused on areas such as underwriting, fraud prevention, marketing, and machine learning infrastructure. Previously, Zhaoya held the position of Machine Learning Lead at Square, where responsibilities included leading projects in payment cost prediction and custom pricing. Additional experience includes a role as Senior Manager at LendingClub, focusing on data science and integration of risk models, and prior positions at Oracle and Management Science Associates. Zhaoya holds a Master’s degree in Information Systems from Carnegie Mellon University and dual Bachelor's degrees in Economics and Electrical and Computer Engineering from Tsinghua University.
