James Hencke is a seasoned landscape architect and urban designer with extensive experience in leading design services in transit, transportation, and land development. Currently serving as the Design Studio Community Practice Leader and Senior Associate at David Evans and Associates, Inc. since August 2015, James oversees urban design and landscape architecture initiatives. Prior to this role, James held various positions including Associate Director at Belt Collins International and operated as an independent consultant focusing on sustainable urban planning. With a career spanning over three decades, James has contributed to numerous prestigious projects globally, ranging from master planning for resorts to design services for urban renewal. James's leadership experience includes serving as President of ASLA Oregon, overseeing organizational transitions and successful events in the landscape architecture community. James holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from West Virginia University.
