Bob Dunham

Trustee at Davidson College

Bob served as a Presbyterian pastor for churches in Auburn, Alabama, Covington, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina, before being called in 1991 to the University Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he served as senior pastor for 26 years. After his retirement in 2017, he also served for two years as interim senior pastor of the Fist Presbyterian Church in the City of New York. He is a frequent guest preacher and lecturer. An English major at Davidson, he was editor of the Davidsonian, a Freshman Advisor, and a member of the Interfraternity Council and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and active in the College Union. He graduated with membership in Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) and Who’s Who Among Students at American Universities and Colleges. He later earned a Master of Sacred Theology degree from Yale University Divinity School and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Union Theological Seminary in Virginia (now Union Presbyterian Seminary). Bob has previously served Davidson as a member of the Board of Trustees (2007-2010), Annual Fund Class Agent, Alumni Association Board member, Durham/Chapel Hill regional campaign committee member during The Campaign for Davidson, and member of his 20th-35th reunion committees. He served as chair of the 2021 Reformed Tradition Working Group. He has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Union Presbyterian Seminary, the Board of Visitors of Presbyterian College, and the Board of Directors of the Presbyterian Outlook Foundation, as well as the Boards of Directors of the Inter-Faith Council for Social Service and the Martin Luther King Jr. University/Community Foundation in Chapel Hill.
