Neil Walters

Neil Walters has a significant amount of experience in the construction industry. Neil is currently working as the Commercial Director at Davidsons Homes, a position they started in July 2021. Prior to this, from 2018 to 2021, they ran their own commercial consultancy business called NAW Commercial Services, where they provided interim commercial support to regional contractors, developers, and SMEs. During this time, they successfully negotiated two loss-making contracts into profits with Covid claims and final account negotiations.

From 2009 to 2021, Neil held various roles at the National Federation of Builders (NFB): Birmingham Association. Neil started as the President, promoting SMEs in construction and providing trade advice. Neil then became the National Chairman Non-Exec, representing the NFB at board level and establishing national policies on retentions and prompt payment codes for SMEs.

In 2019, Neil worked as the Development Commercial Director at Orbit Homes, overseeing three regional business units and reporting to the Group CEO. Before this, from 2015 to 2018, they held the positions of Managing Director and Commercial Director at Colmore Tang Construction Ltd. As the Managing Director, they quadrupled the turnover and increased the staff count to over 100. Neil also established and consolidated full commercial and procurement departments, implemented new accounting systems, and developed underperforming staff.

Neil's earlier work experience includes being the Head of Commercial for the West Midlands at Keepmoat Group from 2011 to 2015, Group Commercial Director at Linford Group Limited from 2004 to 2011, Construction Team Manager at J H Hallam (Contracts) Ltd from 2001 to 2004, Development Manager at Rural Housing Trust from 1997 to 2001, and Senior Quantity Surveyor at J H Hallam (Contracts) Ltd from 1989 to 1997.

Neil Walters attended Nottingham Trent University from 1982 to 1986. Neil obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in the field of Quantity Surveying.
