Palaniappan Kathiresan has had a diverse and extensive work experience in the software development industry. Palaniappan began their career as an intern at the Indian Space Research Organization, where they worked on acquiring data from rocket tracking stations. Palaniappan then moved on to PMR Software Technology, where they designed and developed a secure network system for credit card transactions.
After that, Kathiresan worked at nCipher, where they implemented encryption and cryptographic acceleration solutions for web servers. Palaniappan then joined Netegrity, where they developed single sign-on authentication software for affiliated partner sites.
Kathiresan's career then took him to Visa, where they held various roles. As a software development consultant, they worked on accounting and reporting applications. Palaniappan also contributed as an architect in building a common payment processor connectivity platform. Kathiresan successfully migrated multiple processor connections to the new platform without impacting payment processing.
At PayPal, Kathiresan served as a software development manager, overseeing the development and maintenance of settlement systems that handled billions of dollars annually. Palaniappan established a vision and roadmap for building next-generation settlement systems and contributed to the development of a multi-tenant settlement platform. Kathiresan also led the initiative to migrate PayPal's entire domestic volume to a new platform.
Kathiresan's most recent position was with Davinta, where they served as the Head of Engineering.
Palaniappan Kathiresan attended Crescent Engineering College from 1995 to 1999, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree with a focus on Electronics and Communication. In 2011, they enrolled at Great Lakes Institute of Management and completed the Post Graduate Executive Program in Management, with a specialization in General Management, in 2013. In addition to their formal education, Palaniappan Kathiresan obtained a certification in Introduction to Finance from Coursera in January 2014.
