Sabela Avión Martínez serves as an Ambassador for the Davis Phinney Foundation since February 2023, dedicated to aiding individuals with Parkinson’s disease by sharing the Foundation's resources and philosophy. As a longstanding activist with Con P de Párkinson since May 2016, Sabela advocates for Parkinson's patients, emphasizing informed advocacy. Sabela's extensive experience with the United Nations spans roles as a Spanish Reviser, Translator, and Associate Verbatim Reporter since January 2007, and includes prior work as an Editorial Desktop and Publishing Assistant from February to October 2006. Previous positions at Lionbridge Technologies involved managing localization efforts and serving as a Senior Spanish Localization Specialist from March 2002 to January 2006. Sabela holds an MA in Spanish Translation and Interpretation from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and a Licenciatura in Translation and Interpretation from Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio.

The Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s is unique in the Parkinson’s community. Our mission is to help people living with Parkinson’s to live well today. We provide programs and research that deliver inspiration, information and tools that enable people living with Parkinson’s to take more control in managing their disease and experience a better quality of life. The Davis Phinney Foundation was founded in 2004 by Olympic medal-winner and cycling great, Davis Phinney, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2000 at the age of 40.
