Emma Briars, PhD has worked in a variety of roles in the field of Computational Biology. In 2012, they began as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Boston University. Emma then worked as a Research Technician II at the Massachusetts General Hospital from 2013 to 2016, where they developed a 3-D heterocellular model of ovarian cancer for assessing the biological mechanisms of the treatment response to photodynamic therapy and chemotherapy. From 2016 to 2021, they were a PhD Candidate and Graduate Research Assistant at Boston University, where they developed an R package and R Shiny app for interactive single-cell RNA-Sequencing analysis, specifically data clustering, differential expression, and data visualization. In 2016, they also worked as a Drug Discovery Intern at Merrimack. In 2021, they worked as a Computational Biologist Intern at Day Zero Diagnostics, Inc. Currently, they are a Research Scientist, Computational Biology at Day Zero Diagnostics, Inc.
Emma Briars obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioinformatics from Boston University between 2016 and 2022. Emma obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Mathematics from Boston University between 2009 and 2013.
