Manoj Nair

Manoj Nair has over 20 years of experience in research and development of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assays, molecular genetics and pathogenesis, and vaccine development.

From 1998 to 2001, Nair was a Research Fellow at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute, where they developed PCR-based rapid diagnostic tests for Mycoplasma infections in ruminants, and participated in the development of inactivated vaccines against Pasteurella multocida and Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides LC.

From 2001 to 2006, Nair was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Connecticut, where they studied the molecular genetics and pathogenesis of the biosafety pathogen Francisella tularensis.

From 2006 to 2009, Nair was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Pennsylvania; School of Veterinary Medicine, where they focused on the role of Yersinia pestis adhesins on plague pathogenesis and the development of a multi-subunit vaccine against plague.

From 2009 to 2011, Nair was a Staff Scientist II and Consultant at Pathogenetix, Inc., where they led microbiology-related research and development laboratory activities, and coordinated collaborative research projects with government and industry partners.

From 2011 to 2014, Nair was a Senior Scientist at Roche Molecular Systems, where they developed and validated in vitro diagnostic products, and wrote test protocols and test reports.

From 2014 to 2016, Nair was a Staff Scientist at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, where they were the R&D technical lead for qualitative and quantitative diagnostics assays, and communicated project timelines and progress to core teams and upper management.

From 2018 to 2022, Nair was a Director- Applications & Assay Development and Senior Staff Scientist at LexaGene, where they were responsible for development and verification of IVD assays.

Nair currently serves as Vice President of Molecular Assay Development at Day Zero Diagnostics, Inc.

Manoj Nair received their B.V.Sc & A.H; in Veterinary Science from Kerala Agricultural Jobs between 1991 and 1997. Manoj then earned their M.V.Sc; Master of Veterinary Science in Veterinary Bacteriology from Indian Veterinary Research Institute between 1998 and 2000. Manoj then went on to receive their MS in Food Microbiology & Safety from the University of Connecticut between 2001 and 2006, followed by their PhD in Food Microbiology & Safety from the same institution.
