Austin Riendeau has over 10 years of experience in the software engineering industry. Austin started their career in 2011 as a Front-End Developer at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). In 2012, they moved on to become a Front-End Developer at Inflection, where they focused on building prototype environments for products in Ruby on Rails and Node.js, as well as implementing designs for sites in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. In 2013, they worked as a Software Engineer at Fan TV and as Chief Technology Officer at Continu Inc., where they architected an application using Node.js, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, and Angular.js. In 2014, they joined Aetna as a Sr Cloud Systems Engineer, where they built a PaaS on top of Mesosphere and created a command-line interface to interact with the backend APIs. In 2016, they worked as a Backend Engineer at Bitly, where they helped create and design the APIs that powered Bitly's new look and their Brand Manager for the enterprise product. In 2019, they joined Abstract as a Senior Software Engineer, where they implemented the equivalent of git repack in Go and increased performance of the product on local machines using limited resources. Austin also implemented server side git repacking to increase network performance for users and led an initiative to move GraphQL. Currently, Austin is the Director of Engineering and Lead Engineer, Backend at Dayforward.
Austin Riendeau obtained a Bachelor of Science in Web Development and Design from Full Sail University between 2011 and 2012.
