Chris Coombs has a diverse work experience in the aerospace industry. Chris started their career at the Air Armament Center, where they served as the Chief of the Commander's Action Group and later became the Director of the Program Executive Officer Acquisition. Chris then moved to the Air Force Materiel Command as the Chief of Senior Leader Management. Chris Coombs also worked at the Aeronautical Systems Center, where they held the positions of Deputy Director of the 303d Aeronautical Systems Group and later became the Senior Materiel Leader for the Predator/Reaper System Program. Chris then progressed to the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, where they served as the Senior Materiel Leader and System Program Manager for the KC-46 air refueling tanker program. Currently, Chris Coombs is the President of Dayton Aerospace, a veteran-owned consulting firm, and has also held the role of Vice President & CIO. In this capacity, they manage all operational and financial aspects of the company's business and provides strategy and business leadership for growth.

Chris Coombs has a diverse education background. In 1981, they began their undergraduate studies at the University of Central Florida and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Following this, in 1991, they attended Squadron Officer School for a brief period. In 1992, they enrolled in Creighton University and completed a Master of Computer Systems Management degree in 1994, specializing in Computer Systems Management. Continuing their military education, from 1998 to 1999, Chris Coombs attended Air Command and Staff College, where they earned a Master's degree in Military Operational Art and Science. Lastly, in 2006 and 2007, they furthered their education at Air War College, acquiring a Master's degree in Strategic Studies and successfully completing their academic journey.
