Emily Bates

Emily Bates is the Global General Manager for People, Performance, and Culture at DBM Vircon. Emily has over fifteen years of experience in Human Resources and has held various positions in both Australia and Canada.

Emily started their career in 2003 as a Group Training Manager for TABMA Australia. In this role, they were responsible for managing apprenticeships and traineeships. In 2006, they moved to Master Builders Queensland where they worked as a Membership and Services Advisor.

In 2008, Emily joined The Swadlings Property Group as an HR Advisor. During their four years with the company, they provided advice and support to employees on a variety of HR-related issues. In 2012, they left The Swadlings Property Group to join BHP as an Human Resource Business Partner (HR Advisor).

After a year with BHP, Emily joined Sunwater as a Senior Project Advisor for Change Management. Emily then spent two years with CPB Contractors as a People and Capability Advisor for the Ichthys Project Onshore LNG Facility. In 2016, they became the Group Human Resource Manager for Wideland Group.

Emily has been with DBM Vircon since 2019 and currently leads the company’s global HR team. Under their guidance, the team is responsible for all aspects of HR, including recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and training and development.

Emily Bates has a Diploma of Human Resource Management from the Australian Institute of Management. Emily also has a Post Graduate Certificate of Business Specialisation Strategic Human Resource Management from the University of Southern Queensland. Emily is certified from APMG International in Change Management Foundation and Change Management Registered Practitioner. Emily is also certified from Investigation Compliance and Enforcement Training Systems in Investigative Interviewing. Additionally, they are certified from Master Builders Queensland in Manage OHS in the Building Construction Workplace and from TAFE Queensland in Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Emily Bates reports to Mark Campbell, Chief Executive Officer. They are on a team with Kamalakannan Sudarsanan - General Manager India, Production, Bryan Leavesley - Engineering Design Lead, and Christopher Pfeiff - Global General Manager, Commercial.
