Michelle Berman

Principal Business Systems Analyst/Product Owner at DCCA

Michelle Berman started their work experience as a Senior Programmer Analyst at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield in 1989. Michelle oversaw the design, development, and enhancement of application systems, with a focus on financial and claims systems. Michelle performed systems analysis, created technical specifications, coded and implemented complex programs in a PICK-based environment. Michelle also provided project management support and interfaced with business clients for system enhancements.

In 2002, Michelle joined ViPS, Inc. as a Senior Systems Analyst, where they assisted with the design of system enhancements for the CMS Data Extract System (DESY) application. Michelle developed requirements and recommended enhancements for the application.

Michelle continued their career at General Dynamics Information Technology (acquired ViPS, Inc. 2008) in 2004 as a Sr. Systems Analyst. Michelle worked on developing and managing different systems, including the CMS NPI Crosswalk system, CMS Data Agreement & Data Shipping Tracking System (DADSS) Web Application, and CMS Medicare DMEPOS bidding system (DBidS). Michelle analyzed data, created functional specifications, documented requirements, and executed test scripts for these complex systems. Michelle also monitored data feeds and ensured successful process completion.

In 2017, Michelle transitioned to the role of Principal Systems Analyst at General Dynamics Information Technology. In this position, they provided business and systems analysis to support new development and system maintenance. Michelle developed business, functional, and system requirements for the CMS Drug Data Processing System (DDPS) and Payment Reconciliation System (PRS). Additionally, they conducted joint application development (JAD) sessions.

Most recently, in 2019, Michelle joined DCCA as a Principal Business Systems Analyst/Product Owner.

Michelle Berman attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County from 1984 to 1989. During that time, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
