Feiqi ‘Frank’ Zhu

Feiqi ‘Frank’ Zhu has extensive work experience primarily in the field of software engineering and testing. Feiqi ‘Frank’ started their career at IBM in 1998 as a Consultant, where they oversaw initiatives for the AIX Tools & Service Build Team. Feiqi ‘Frank’ served as a lead Java programmer on a key RP2 project and supervised debugging, software development, and software build activities. In 2002, they became a Principle Consultant through CTG, supporting the AIX APAR Regression Test Lab. Feiqi ‘Frank’ expedited the administration and management of the lab’s infrastructure. Feiqi ‘Frank’ joined IBM as a full-time employee in 2005, working as a Staff Software Engineer on the Commercial Database Team and AIX Regression Test Lab. Feiqi ‘Frank’ served as a test engineering lead on DB2 verification. From 2009 to 2011, Zhu worked as a Staff Software Engineer for IBM Systems, serving as an Oracle RAC Primary Test Owner (PTO) in the Unix Product Test organization. Feiqi ‘Frank’ designed and integrated large Oracle RAC/RDS clusters and spearheaded test and verification efforts across multiple initiatives. In 2011, they were promoted to Advisory Software Engineer and became a Virtual I/O Server Service Pack (VSP) Test Team Leader. Feiqi ‘Frank’ led a test team and drove the overall VSP test plan and strategy. In 2014, they were reassigned to oversee integrated software system testing and contributed to projects like IBM PurePower and Virtual I/O Server SSP. In 2016, they were appointed as a System Test Technical Lead for IBM’s Elastic Storage System (ESS) and built the first ESS environment using IBM Power 9 Server. Feiqi ‘Frank’ actively contributed to the CORAL project for Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Zhu joined DDN Storage in 2023 as a Senior Lead Software Development Engineer in Test.

Feiqi ‘Frank’ Zhu has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Automatic Control (Electrical and Computer Engineer) from Tsinghua University. Feiqi ‘Frank’ also holds a Master of Science degree in Statistics/Computer Science from Stephen F. Austin State University. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained certifications such as IBM Certified Application Developer - DB2 Universal Database V8.1 Family and IBM Certified System Administrator - AIX 7 from IBM, as well as the Sun Certified Java Programmer certification from Sun Microsystems. The specific dates of when they obtained these certifications are unknown.
