Ewald Engelen

Ewald Engelen is a distinguished academic and media professional with extensive experience in financial geography and ethnic entrepreneurship. Currently serving as a podcast host and op-ed writer at De Groene Amsterdammer since February 2009, Ewald Engelen also holds an advisory position at Transdev Nederland beginning in September 2023. As a professor at the University of Amsterdam since 1994, Ewald Engelen has contributed significantly in various capacities, including bijzo'n hoogleraar and associate professor, along with a background as a senior researcher. Previous roles include advising for Buitenhof and membership in the Waterland thinktank from 2006 to 2010, as well as research fellow positions at the Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR) from 2004 to 2006. Ewald Engelen earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in social and political philosophy from the University of Amsterdam, where studies were completed from 1990 to 1994.
