Tom Janssens has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Tom began their career in 2003 as a Teacher at K.A.Lyceum Mechelen. In 2004, they transitioned to Alcopa, where they worked as an After Sales Coordinator EQC. In 2007, they joined Heavy as an Engineer. In 2009, they joined De Lijn, where they have held multiple roles, including Project Manager, Head of mobility development (ad interim), and Head of mobility research and innovation. Currently, they serve as the Head Of Risk Management at De Lijn, where they are responsible for strategic risk management, business process management, business continuity management, ESHQ, change management, security, culture change, risk leadership, and DPO.

Tom Janssens has a diverse education background. Tom obtained a Master's degree in Environmental Sciences with a specialization in Milieucoördinator A from KU Leuven in 2003. Prior to that, they completed a Master's degree in Engineering from KU Leuven Faculty of Engineering Technology - De Nayer Campus in 2002. Tom attended Koninlijk Atheum Keerbergen for their high school education, where they studied Latin and Mathematics for eight hours a week, ultimately earning a high school diploma. In terms of additional certifications, Tom received training in Prince2 project management from Wolters Kluwer in 2011. In recent years, they have focused on professional development at Vlerick Business School, participating in a program centered around growth through innovation. Additionally, in 2019 and 2020, Tom undertook a business essentials course at Wolters Kluwer, known as a "mini MBA."
