Steven Maijoor

Steven Maijoor has been Executive Director of Supervision since 1 April 2021. Steven's remit includes supervision of banks, horizontal functions and integrity supervision, and legal services. He is a member of the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank (ECB).

Before Steven joined DNB's Governing Board, he was Chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), from 2011-2021. Between 2004 and 2011 he was a director at the Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). Before that, he was a Professor of business economics (1994-2004) and Dean (2001-2004) at the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University (1994-2004).

Steven graduated in business economics at the University of Groningen. He obtained his PhD in the same field at Maastricht University in 1991.
