Brent Phillips

Brent Phillips has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Brent currently holds the position of Chief Impact Officer at Deaf Connect since May 2021. Prior to this, they worked at the National Disability Insurance Agency as a Branch Manager for Assistive Technology & Employment Outcomes from October 2020 to May 2021. Brent also served as the Chair of the Victorian Disability Advisory Council from October 2019 to October 2020, where they provided advice to the Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers regarding policies and strategies for the inclusion of people with disability.

Before their role at the Victorian government, Brent held the position of Director - Language, Partnerships & Innovation at Expression Australia from April 2012 to October 2020. Brent also has experience in the sports sector, having served as a Project Coordinator at Sport and Recreation Victoria from March 2005 to April 2012, and as President of the Board of Directors at Deaf Sports Australia from December 2005 to March 2012.

Earlier in their career, Brent worked as a Senior Sports Liaison Officer at Melbourne 2005 Deaflympic Games Ltd. from October 2003 to February 2005. Brent also served as a Disability Outreach Project Officer at the Victorian Equal Opportunity & Human Rights Commission from January 2003 to October 2003. Additionally, Brent worked as a Youth & Community Development Officer at the Deafness Support Network from October 2000 to September 2002, and as a Manager at Deaf Victoria Inc. from September 1999 to September 2000. Overall, Brent's work experience showcases their commitment to disability advocacy, community development, and inclusive policies.

Brent Phillips has a diverse education history. Brent obtained a Graduate Diploma in Language (Auslan) from La Trobe University in 1998-1999. Brent then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of Melbourne in 1997-1999. In 2011-2014, they pursued a Master of Business Administration degree with a focus on Sport Business at Victoria University. Brent also completed the Company Directors Course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2016. Additionally, they obtained certifications such as GAICD, Master of Business Administration, and Bachelor of Arts (Criminology).
